Pottery Barn Dollhouse Makeover

I have seen these dollhouse makeovers all over social media and was so inspired. I knew it had to be my next project. This was hands down my most fun project yet! I spent weeks creating this perfect little dollhouse for three perfect little girls. We already had this pottery barn dollhouse from many years ago, so she got a makeover. I hand picked items and also created many of my own. Doing interior decorating on a miniature scale might be better than life size! So, who's ready for a home tour?!

The Kitchen

The heart of a home. The kitchen. Wow! From the subway tile by https://www.etsy.com/shop/MiniatureCrush to the marble countertops from contact paper and beautiful big island, any tiny homeowner would just fall in love! The massive sparkly chandelier is a Kurt Adler ornament and the raw unfinished kitchen table is from hobby lobby https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Dollhouses-Miniatures/Furniture/Miniature-French-Country-Table-Chairs/p/142679 which just makes the little corner of the kitchen so cozy with a touch of glam.

The cabinets and island were made by me from chipwood, contact paper and paint. When it comes to the placement of your stovetop https://www.etsy.com/shop/MforMiniatures, would you prefer it to be on the island or the cabinet space? I think in real life I am team sink in the island but it looks so nice in this tiny home that maybe I might be changing that thought.

This pendant light was the one piece to stump me the most. I knew I had a vision for what I wanted but making it come to life with tiny pieces of chipwood and leftover contact paper from the "wood" flooring was a nice challenge.

The inspiration for the farmhouse clock came from a large version my husband and I made years ago for above our fireplace. I took more chipwood and cut out a few circles to give it some thickness, painted it white and used a pencil to draw on the face. The hutch below is from Hobby Lobby and painted in FolkArt Metallic Rose Gold.

Open shelving. Need I say more? Just cut small pieces of wood, stain them in all american from Minwax and hot glue them to your liking and you to can live through the tiny details of your dollhouse as you've always dreamed. Add some tumblers and a cute sign from Melvins Miniatures and you can't go wrong. https://www.etsy.com/shop/MelvinsMiniatures?ref=yr_purchases

The copper pots and tea kettle from Miniature Crush etsy shop whites.://www.etsy.com/listing/745683403/dollhouse-miniature-copper-pots-pans?ref=yr_purchases gives the perfect accent to the hutch while balancing all the whites.

The simple yet gorgeous refrigerator, unfinished bar stools, and stand mixer are from Macy Mae. She is a wonderful small shop to work with to help make all your dollhouse dreams come to life.

The Living Room

The shiplap fireplace wall in the living room might be my favorite wall in the house. I took wood craft strips from Hobby Lobby and cut to size just like you would lay wood flooring. Once all the wood was up, I just painted it white. The fireplace itself came from hobbylobby.com and I built the hearth from chipwood. The cute little logs are actually driftwood I have collected over the years from our local beaches.

What dollhouse living room is complete without a pink velvet couch? I created this piece with pink velvet fabric , two pieces of wood as the frame and some polyfill put together with some hot glue.

The Master Bedroom

To have a four poster bed like this in our own master bedroom would be what dreams are made of in the sense of your own oasis. The fluffy white bedding and pillows from MacyMae, along with the bed, just make it that much better. How cute would this hanging bassinet be for a perfect newborn baby in real life size?!

This beautiful anthropologie inspired mirror was made as a custom order by https://www.etsy.com/people/phillipnuveen. I so wish I had a makeup vanity setup like this!

Bathroom

More subway tile, a free standing tub, glass shower door to a walk in shower, raised sink and a statement mirror….what else can I say?!

The beautiful vanity cabinet is from the talented macymae.com. The tub and toilet are a potterybarnkids.com piece that made the cut for the makeover. The shower door is actually a picture frame that I removed the glass, added some black strips and glued it in place. The mirror was made from craft mirrors from hobby lobby and toothpicks painted gold. The sink can be found at https://www.etsy.com/shop/MiniatureCrush.

Attic Kids Room

These adorable bunks beds, natural round rug, knitted blanket, pillows and teepee from MacyMae could not have made this room any cuter! Add a fur rug from Small Fun Shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/SmallFunShop?ref=yr_purchases and a balloon dog from MforMiniatures https://www.etsy.com/listing/861468806/dollhouse-miniature-balloon-dog-53cmh-x?ref=yr_purchases and your tiny dollhouse humans will be having a blast in the fun attic kids room.

As for the flooring and wallpaper here, I just used some shiplap scrapbook paper found at Hobby Lobby and secured it with modge podge. Now if there comes a time when new flooring or wallpaper needs to be installed, I might be regretting that modge podge decision.

And there you have it! A dollhouse that these three little girls have been itching to get their hands on!

The best advice to creating your own tiny home is to look around at things you already have. Such as the greenery was clipped from faux plants in our house, the rugs were printed as a downsized image on google, and living room lamp was from a pencil, cardstock paper and twine. Many things can be used to create a miniature piece as long as you bring along your imagination!
